Reflecting on past life experiences and beginning to take responsibility for ones actions are a big part of the recovery process. The recovering addict realizes through the recovery process that they can and must make better choices. There are consequences to actions and their problem will still be there after the high is gone.
Family is a big part of the recovery process. Sometimes family members can be enablers by looking the other way, suppling the addict with their drug of choice or having an addiction themselves but the family can alsomoffer tremendous support and love to the addict during their recovery and also participate in the addict getting help.
